I’ve spent nearly 20 years working with children labeled with “learning disabilities.” And here’s what I’ve learned: I have yet to meet a child who cannot learn - when we, as teachers and parents, know how to tap into their strengths.
I’m also mom to an 18-year-old non-speaking autistic teen with Down syndrome. He writes poetry (he is a published poet), tolerates math (on most days!), and dreams of becoming an anthropologist, proof that complex learning is possible, even when the world assumes otherwise.
This workshop offers a window into my "Non Linear Education" framework, built from both lived experience and years of teaching Autistic students and learners with Down syndrome. It comes from watching extraordinary shifts in my son and in hundreds of students whose potential was hidden under labels.
